New – FRA Child and Parent Rules Acknowledgement Form

At a recent Board meeting, the Club adopted some new guidelines for use of the clubhouse by children. Children under the age of 13 must have parental supervision when using the facility. Children 13 to 16 can use the clubhouse once a signed acknowledgement form has been received by the Association.  That document may be found here on our web page as well as in hard copy inside the Clubhouse.  Thank you to Lisa Stevens for taking the lead on these new measures!

As FRA members, we are “fortunate” to have parking available within a one-minute walk from one of Maine’s premier beaches.  “Unfortunately”, the parking is limited, only 29 spaces to accommodate the 115 member families.   So that the maximum number of FRA families are accommodated, especially on busy beach days, please:

  • Display your FRA parking pass,
  • Park within a lined, marked space,
  • Do not loan passes to non-members, and
  • Bring only one vehicle to the beach at a time.

With a little courtesy and cooperation, we should be able to accommodate everyone.

Upcoming Events

Music Event: Tuesday, July 11, 4:30-6:00 pm
FRA Members and guests are cordially invited to attend our second music event. We will be entertained by a local group, the Wetsuits.  Bring your lawn chair and your drink of choice.  We will pass the hat and donate the proceeds to two local charities, Esther Residence and Hope Rising, both run by Good Shepherd Sisters. Checks can be made out to either charity or to the Sisters to use as they see fit. Cash is also welcome.  Last year’s event was well received with 42 attending.  Any questions please contact Ken Buechs, 282-3954, kbuechs@earthlink.net

FRA University, Thursday, July 20, 5:00 pm
John Redman and Gail Erath will offer a “hands-on” workshop on how to fly to your
“Dream Destination” anywhere in the world for virtually nothing—even in business
class. As a complement to last year’s introductory Frequent Flyer tutorial on how to earn
and use frequent flyer miles, this workshop will apply newly available Internet-based tools to identify: 1) which type of Frequent Flyer points/miles and airlines are best to use to get to your Dream Destination, and 2) how to accumulate those miles/points in the fastest way possible with no or minimal cost.
The 90-minute workshop will be held at John’s house (for wifi access) at 24 Lily Pond Avenue on July 20 at 5 p. m. and will be limited to 8 people, first come, first served. However, if demand exceeds that number, additional sessions will be held to accommodate all interested.

This session will be different from last year’s so last year’s attendees are encouraged to participate. Participants also are encouraged to bring their own laptops to get “hands on” experience using the websites featured.

In the last six years, John and his wife Marianne have flown roundtrip to Europe five times, and to Costa Rica, Bali, Chile, Argentina, New Zealand, Australia, Singapore, Morocco, Mexico, Grand Cayman and a bunch of US cities using nothing but frequent flyer miles. Many of these trips have been in business class. Gail is similarly well-traveled and well-versed in the earning/use of miles and points. It is not hard to do this– it just requires 1) a modicum of discipline, 2) a good credit score, and 3) the knowledge of how exactly to do it, which this workshop will provide. As John noted last year: “This is like picking money up off the sidewalk– like stealing legally”

If you are interested in attending, please email John at jredman100@hotmail.com at your earliest convenience.
