FRA Newsletter June 21, 2021

Welcome to what will hopefully be a better FRA season! We are planning on our usual social and meeting calendar this year with some modifications. This assumes that most of our membership has received the widely available COVID 19 vaccination. For those of you who have chosen not to be vaccinated, we ask that you continue to follow the guidelines we are all so used to including wearing a mask and socially distancing at our gatherings. We likely have members who are not vaccinated for medical reasons and many members with significant health concerns. Please do the right thing.

The membership renewal process is complete. Thank you to the vast majority who did this electronically and expeditiously. This is immensely helpful during this rather laborious process. Only 1 couple did not renew which was unfortunate for the 17 families on the wait list, we were only able to welcome 1 new couple. Please welcome Marc & Heidi L’Heureux!

Our first social is this Saturday, June 26 at 6pm. There will be some pandemic related modifications: We will be holding this mostly outside, therefore the parking lot capacity will be halved so PLEASE try to carpool, bike, walk etc. to this event. We will have several canopies set up and the usual full bar, all outside. Packaged snacks will be provided but you may also bring an appetizer or dessert to share, preferably something with individual portions rather than dips etc.

Thank you to our hosts, Rosemary LaPorte and Jan Levine. We do need hosts for the following 2 socials as well as volunteers for setup and cleanup. If you are willing to help, please contact our Social Chair, Jean Whitehurst at jvwhitehurst@gmail.com. Also, thanks to our perennial mixologist, Ken Buechs!

We will hold our first board meeting this Saturday at 9am followed by the general membership meeting at 10am at the clubhouse.

Our tennis committee members, Frank Erath, Dot Starkweather, and Mark Robinson are dealing with a common COVID issue these days: The company that maintains the court cannot get enough workers. As soon as we have more information, a tennis newsletter will go out.

Thank you to Norann Oleson for putting together an on-line court reservation system! I will send more information on how to access this to the tennis members in a separate email.

Alper Caglayan is reprising his role as chair of the FRA music program and has booked local artist: Lena Rich to perform at the Clubhouse on Friday August 20th at 5:30 pm. Lena is a Maine singer songwriter.  She recently toured the Rockies, West Coast, and New Zealand.

Labor Day Cookout on the beach will be co-chaired again this year by Jim 0leson and Bill Murray.  Thank you, Jim & Bill! Mark your calendar, this is always a good time.

We are still looking for someone to host the Potluck Dinner on Columbus Day weekend.  If you are interested, please let us know.

Hope to see many of you this Saturday!
