FRA University:  Provost John Redman reports two very successful FRA/University sessions: Genealogy (Jeff Leman/Ray Leavitt) with 12 members attending, and the first wine tasting event (Alper Caglayan/Gail Erath) with 12 members attending!  John has a long list of future topics, please see him if you have an interesting hobby, profession or fetish to share with small groups.

FRA Music event:  There was excellent turnout and great weather for the music event by Troy Ramey.  Also, a huge thanks to all who donated to the St Phillips church steeple repairs. The total came to $1045!  Here is a thank you note from member Judy Kimball: “The St Philips church committee and all who attend services, sincerely thank the Fortune’s Rocks Association for designating us to receive the free will offering from the wonderful summer concert on July 15th. We were extremely surprised and pleased by the amount raised. The generosity of the FRA community resulted in donations totaling an astounding $1045!!! We hope soon to have the bell ringing again, and the belfry rebuilt soon after. Thank you all for your very generous support!”

The Annual General Membership Meeting will be held on Saturday, August 25 at 10AM at the Clubhouse.  Take this opportunity to learn about your club, finances and our efforts. At this meeting we will be nominating officers and board candidates. The nominating committee will soon begin their search for these individuals for two-year terms.  This is a totally volunteer organization and depends on the participation of all member families.  Please consider serving in one of these official capacities. Year round residency is NOT a requirement as little is required during the off season.  Please see one of the officers or give us a thumbs-up when we call you.

Our library has been recently restocked and now includes many novels by Patterson!  Recycle your books and take home a couple of new ones. Also, the Club is in need of used puzzles and board games for the library Please contact Jacquie for more information:

Labor Day Cookout Saturday, September 1: the Board has unanimously agreed to move the start time up to 12 PM due to the high tide expected by late afternoon.

Columbus Day Covered Dish event: This is always the last seasonal event on the FRA calendar and is well attended with many returning for the last-hurrah holiday weekend.  However, we need two couples to chair the event and have been unsuccessful so far. This event is currently at grave risk of being cancelled due to lack of volunteer hosts. The Board will cancel the event if we don’t obtain two volunteer couples by the end of this week’s Social.  Please see Ken as he has a report detailing the responsibilities for you to consider.

Memorial Gifts: Please be aware of the long-standing practice of making a Club donation to a charity or cause designated by the family when a member passes away.
