President’s Welcome 2021

Dear Fortunes Rocks Association Members,

Welcome back! We are looking forward to a great year at FRA!

Membership renewal is going well.  Thank you, Barbara Ryan.  All but 9 members have renewed for 2021.  The deadline for renewal is Tuesday, June 15.  After that we will invite the 17 families from the wait list to join until we reach our membership limit of 115 member families.  So, if you have not yet renewed and intend to, please do so this week.  Our electronic renewal process is easy to use and can be found on the FRA home page .Or just click here:  FRA 2021 Renewal Again, we have 17 families on the wait list so if you are one of the 9 that have not renewed, you will lose your membership unless you renew by June 15.

We are resuming our monthly socials on the fourth Saturday of June, July and August.  Our first social will be held at the Clubhouse on June 25th at 6:00 pm. Out of an abundance of caution a portion of the parking lot will be blocked off to allow for social distancing. Members may bring food to share and the Association will supply individually packaged snacks in addition to our normal selection of drinks.  Parking will be limited, so please carpool if possible.  We want to express our gratitude to our hostesses for the evening;  Rosemary Laporte and Janice Levine Igoe, and to our long standing contributors; Social Chair,  Jean Whitehurst and Chief Mixologist, Ken Buechs.

It is my sad duty to report that John Redman has retired from his role a chancellor, Fortunes Rocks University.  John did a wonderful job as chancellor. He brought us on food tours, wine tastings, sessions on travel, genealogy, finance, the role of a Futurist in corporate America and to visits to Peter Starr’s toy box. Thank you, John!  We wish you well in your retirement.  If you are interested in assuming the role as chancellor, please let me know.

Frank Erath, Dot Starkweather, and Mark Robinson have seen to it that our tennis program will be in full swing this summer. No pun intended.

Alper Caglayan is reprising his role as chair of the FRA music program and has booked local artist: Lena Rich to perform at the Clubhouse on Friday August 20th at 5:30 pm. Lena is a Maine singer songwriter.  She recently toured the Rockies, West Coast, and New Zealand.  It should be an enjoyable evening.

Labor Day Cookout on the beach will be co-chaired again this year by Jim 0leson and Bill Murray.  Thank you, Jim & Bill! Mark your calendar, this is always a good time.

We are still looking for someone to host the Potluck Dinner on Columbus Day weekend.  If you are interested, please let me know.

It should be a great summer.  I look forward to seeing everyone at the general membership meeting at 10 o’clock Saturday, June 25, in the Clubhouse, and again that evening for our first social.

Stay in good health.
