    FRA Lunchtime Bike Rides

Looking to enjoy the outdoors, move your body, and connect with fellow members? Join us for weekly FRA bike rides, open to all fitness levels!

Each week, we’ll set out on a senic coastal route around Biddeford Pool and Hills Beach, about 13 mile ride. We can split into groups so everyone can ride at their own pace, or take a shorter route if desired.—whether you’re in the mood for a leisurely cruise or a more challenging spin. Rides will last about an hour and a half.

When: Tuesdays on July 14 and 21, more dates will be added based on interest.

Where: Meet at the FRA Pavilion for a 12:10 departure

Who: All members and guests welcome - the more the merrier

Bring your bike, helmet, water, and your funniest post-ride stories. Let’s roll and have fun.

Coastal Birding Walk with Maine Audubon

Join Kevin Mullan, the Outreach Coordinator for the Coastal Birds Project with Maine Audubon, for a guided birding walk at Fortunes Rocks Beach.

Meet at the Fortunes Rocks Association Pavilion at 10:00 am. We'll walk north toward Middle Beach. It's approximately a 10-minute walk from the Pavilion to where the first group of chicks is usually found. From there, we have a group of 6 nests with chicks of various ages. Shorebird migration will begin in a few weeks too, so there will likely be a good variety of birds to see.

The beach walk will take 1.5 - 2 hours, giving us time for a quick introduction and overview as we head up the beach for stops to spot and discuss the birds.

Wear comfortable clothes and footwear for walking on the beach. Don't forget your hat, plenty of sunscreen, and water. We recommend you bring a pair of binoculars if you have them.

Don Campbell & Tonya Shevenell Duo

Can lightning strike twice? Last summer, Don Campbell and Tonya Shevenell set a new FRA record, drawing the largest crowd ever for a music event — 115 members and guests! This July 4th weekend, they’re back—ready to deliver another unforgettable evening.

Don Campbell has shared stages with country greats like Keith Urban and Toby Keith, but at FRA he creates something even more special: an intimate night of heartfelt music. Expect timeless favorites like Dan Fogelberg’s Leader of the Band and Neil Young’s Heart of Gold, woven together with Don’s original songs from albums like The Dust Never Settles. Between numbers, Don’s warm storytelling makes the performance feel like sitting around a campfire with an old friend.

Tonya Shevenell, Don’s longtime collaborator, joins on bass and harmonies. In addition to her musical talents, Tonya is also a beloved children’s book author—many members cherished the chance to have their copies of The Maine Birthday Book signed at last year’s show.

Their duo performances bring a unique blend of original tunes, folk, country, and classic covers from artists like Dan Fogelberg, Eddie Rabbitt, and John Denver. The result is a sound that bridges generations and genres while feeling deeply personal.

    ✨ Highlights from last year:

A record-breaking crowd and standing ovations

A hit pre-show reception featuring our “mystery cocktail”

Music that had everyone singing along and asking for more

Spontaneous book signing and conversations with the artists

The reviews were unanimous: “Two thumbs up!” “Let’s do more like this!” “What a vibe!”

Save the date: Thursday August 6 at FRA Pavilion.

Don’t miss the return of a duo that has already made FRA history!

    • FRA Parking Lot

This year marks the 23nd Annual Maine Lighthouse Ride, a spectacular cycling event that showcases the breathtaking beauty of southern Maine’s coastline. Riders will experience stunning ocean views, rolling terrain, the iconic Scarborough Marsh, and multiple historic lighthouses along four scenic routes covering 25, 40, 62, and 100 miles.

Participants register for this ride in support of the Eastern Trail Alliance, a nonprofit dedicated to expanding and maintaining the Eastern Trail. Last year, over 800 cyclists pedaled along Maine’s coastline, visiting lighthouses and raising funds to support this vital cause.

As part of our commitment to the community, FRA proudly provides its parking lot as a key rest stop for the event, offering restrooms and refreshments to riders as they take in the beauty of our coastal region.

We’re honored to support this incredible tradition and the cyclists who ride for a great cause!   ‍
